The Harvard Club of Phoenix was founded in 1941-42  Prior to that time, there had been just one alumni organization in the state --- the Harvard Club of Arizona.  Meetings were generally held in Tucson to accommodate the majority of the members.  Because of the difficulties encountered in travelling during World War II, Archdeacon J. Rockwood Jenkins Class of 1891 suggested the formation of a separate club in Phoenix.  The Harvard Club of Phoenix was then organized by alumni in the Salt River Valley.
